International Space Year

International Space Year (ISY) was a year-long celebration held in 1992 to commemorate the 500th anniversary of Christopher Columbus' first voyage to the Americas and to promote international cooperation in space exploration. The ISY was organized by the United Nations General Assembly and the International Astronomical Union (IAU) and involved various space agencies, organizations, and countries around the world. The main objectives of the ISY were to increase public awareness and education about space science and technology, to promote international cooperation in space research and exploration, and to encourage the peaceful use of outer space for the benefit of all humanity. The ISY included various events, activities, and projects such as conferences, exhibitions, space missions, and educational programs.
