Image Sensor

An image sensor is a device that detects and conveys information used to make an image. In the context of space and astronautical engineering, image sensors are used in spacecraft and satellites to capture images of celestial bodies, planets, and other objects in space. These sensors can be either charge-coupled devices (CCDs) or complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) sensors. CCDs are more sensitive and produce higher quality images, but are more expensive and consume more power. CMOS sensors, on the other hand, are less expensive and consume less power, but produce lower quality images. Image sensors are an essential component of space exploration missions, as they allow scientists to study and analyze the characteristics of celestial bodies and other objects in space.
