Hypothesis Testing

Hypothesis testing is a statistical method used to determine whether a hypothesis about a population parameter is supported by the sample data. In the context of space and astronautical engineering, hypothesis testing can be used to evaluate the effectiveness of a new technology or design by comparing it to an existing one. For example, a hypothesis test could be used to determine whether a new rocket engine design is more efficient than an older design. Hypothesis testing involves setting up a null hypothesis, which assumes that there is no significant difference between the two groups being compared, and an alternative hypothesis, which assumes that there is a significant difference. The sample data is then used to calculate a test statistic, which is compared to a critical value to determine whether the null hypothesis should be rejected or not.
