HRPT

High Resolution Picture Transmission (HRPT) is a digital transmission system used to transmit high-resolution satellite imagery and other meteorological data from polar-orbiting weather satellites to ground receiving stations. The HRPT system operates in the L-band frequency range and uses a circularly polarized antenna to transmit data at a rate of 1.7 Mbps. The system is used by meteorological agencies around the world to obtain high-resolution images of the Earth's surface and atmosphere for weather forecasting and research purposes.
