Geothermometer
In space and astronautical engineering, a geothermometer is a device or method used to measure the temperature of a planetary body's subsurface. This is done by analyzing the thermal emission spectra of the planet's surface. By measuring the intensity of the emitted radiation at different wavelengths, scientists can determine the temperature of the subsurface material. Geothermometers are important tools for understanding the thermal history and evolution of planets, moons, and asteroids. They can also be used to identify areas of a planetary body that may be suitable for future exploration or resource extraction.
