Geothermal Power Plants

Geothermal power plants are facilities that generate electricity by harnessing the heat energy from the Earth's core. This is done by drilling deep into the Earth's crust to access hot water and steam, which is then used to power turbines and generate electricity. Geothermal power plants can be classified into three types: dry steam, flash steam, and binary cycle. Dry steam plants use steam from underground to directly power turbines. Flash steam plants use hot water from underground to create steam, which then powers turbines. Binary cycle plants use hot water to heat a secondary fluid with a lower boiling point, which then vaporizes and powers turbines. Geothermal power plants are a renewable energy source that produces little to no greenhouse gas emissions and has a small environmental footprint.
