Flavor Oscillations
Flavor oscillations, also known as neutrino oscillations, refer to the phenomenon where a neutrino created with a specific flavor (electron, muon, or tau) can later be measured to have a different flavor. This occurs because neutrinos are created as mixtures of the three flavors, but as they travel through space, they oscillate between the different flavors. This phenomenon was first observed in the late 1990s and has since been studied extensively in the field of particle physics and astrophysics. Flavor oscillations have important implications for our understanding of the properties of neutrinos, as well as for our understanding of the fundamental laws of physics.
