Finite Element Method
Finite Element Method (FEM) is a numerical technique used to obtain approximate solutions of boundary value problems in engineering and physics. It involves dividing a complex structure into smaller and simpler parts, called finite elements, and then solving the equations governing the behavior of each element. The solutions of all the elements are then combined to obtain the solution of the entire structure. FEM is widely used in aerospace engineering for the analysis of structures, such as aircraft wings, fuselages, and rocket bodies. It allows engineers to predict the behavior of these structures under different loading conditions, such as aerodynamic forces, thermal loads, and vibrations. FEM can also be used for the design optimization of aerospace structures, by varying the shape, size, and material properties of the finite elements to achieve the desired performance.
