European Union Aviation Safety Agency

The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) is a regulatory body that ensures the highest level of safety protection for the European citizens. It is the centerpiece of the European Union's strategy for aviation safety. Its tasks include drafting and advising on safety legislation, certifying aviation products and organizations, and providing a single regulatory and certification process among Member States. EASA also conducts safety inspections in the member states and provides the necessary technical expertise, training and research. The agency works closely with the National Aviation Authorities (NAAs) of the EU member states but has taken over many of their functions in the field of certification and regulation. EASA's regulatory activities have a direct impact on companies in the aerospace industry, as they must comply with its safety standards and regulations. The agency's decisions also have a significant influence on the development of new aerospace technologies and the operation of aircraft in Europe.
