Emergency Locator Transmitter

An Emergency Locator Transmitter (ELT) is a device designed to transmit a distress signal in the event of an emergency. ELTs are typically installed in aircraft and are activated automatically upon impact or manually by the crew in the event of an emergency. The signal transmitted by the ELT is picked up by satellites and relayed to search and rescue teams, allowing them to locate the aircraft and provide assistance. ELTs are an important safety feature in aviation and are required by law in many countries.
