Coronagraphs

Coronagraphs are instruments used in space and astronautical engineering to observe the corona of the sun or other bright objects in space. They work by blocking out the bright light emitted by the object being observed, allowing for the observation of the much fainter corona. Coronagraphs are used to study the structure and dynamics of the corona, as well as to observe solar flares and other phenomena. They are also used in the search for exoplanets, as they can block out the light of a star to reveal the much fainter light of any orbiting planets. Coronagraphs can be mounted on telescopes or used as standalone instruments, and can be designed to operate in a variety of wavelengths.
