Characteristic Impedance

Characteristic Impedance is the ratio of voltage to current in an electromagnetic wave propagating through a transmission line. It is a measure of the opposition to the flow of electric current in the transmission line. Characteristic Impedance is an important parameter in the design of transmission lines, as it determines the amount of power that can be transmitted through the line without reflection. It is also used to match the impedance of the source and load to the transmission line, which minimizes signal loss and maximizes power transfer. Characteristic Impedance is dependent on the physical properties of the transmission line, such as its geometry, dielectric constant, and conductor material.
