Ballistic Missiles
Ballistic missiles are rockets that are launched into space and follow a trajectory that is primarily determined by gravity. They are designed to deliver a payload, such as a nuclear warhead, to a specific target on the Earth's surface. Ballistic missiles can be launched from land, sea, or air, and can travel thousands of kilometers in a matter of minutes. They are classified into two main categories: intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) and shorter-range ballistic missiles (SRBMs). ICBMs have a range of more than 5,500 km and are primarily used for strategic purposes, while SRBMs have a range of less than 1,000 km and are used for tactical purposes. Ballistic missiles are a key component of many countries' military arsenals, and their development and deployment have been the subject of international arms control agreements.
