Automated Flight Systems
Automated Flight Systems refer to the complex network of systems within an aircraft that are designed to automate a wide range of in-flight operations, thereby reducing the workload on the flight crew. These systems encompass a broad spectrum of technologies, including autopilot systems, flight management systems (FMS), and avionics systems. Autopilot systems are designed to control the trajectory of an aircraft without constant 'hands-on' control by a human operator. Flight management systems are specialized computer systems that automate a wide variety of in-flight tasks, such as navigation, flight planning, and fuel management. Avionics systems include all the electronic systems used on aircraft, artificial satellites, and spacecraft, including communications, navigation, and the display and management of multiple systems. The primary purpose of automated flight systems is to enhance flight safety, efficiency, and performance while reducing pilot error and workload.
