Albedo


In space and astronautical engineering, albedo refers to the measure of the reflectivity of a celestial body's surface. It is the ratio of the amount of electromagnetic radiation reflected by a surface to the amount of radiation incident upon it. Albedo plays a crucial role in determining the temperature of a planet or moon, as a higher albedo means more radiation is reflected back into space, resulting in cooler temperatures. In addition, albedo is an important factor in designing spacecraft and spacesuits, as it affects the amount of heat absorbed or reflected by the materials used. Albedo is also used to study the composition and properties of celestial bodies, as different materials have different albedos.
