Version Control

Version control is a system that records changes to a file or set of files over time so that you can recall specific versions later. It allows you to revert files or entire projects back to a previous state, track modifications and modifications authors, compare changes over time, see who last modified something that might be causing a problem, who introduced an issue and when, and more. In the context of space and astronautical engineering, version control is essential for managing the development of complex systems, such as spacecraft, satellites, and rockets. It enables engineers to keep track of changes made to the design, software, and hardware components, and ensures that everyone on the team is working with the latest version of the project. This is particularly important when multiple teams are working on different aspects of the same project, or when a project is being developed over a long period of time.
