Neutral Beam Injection

Neutral Beam Injection (NBI) is a method of heating and controlling plasma in fusion devices. It involves injecting high-energy neutral particles into the plasma, which then ionize and transfer their energy to the plasma particles through collisions. NBI is used to achieve the high temperatures and densities required for fusion reactions to occur, and to control the shape and stability of the plasma. The neutral particles are typically produced by ionizing a gas and then passing it through a magnetic field to strip off the electrons. The resulting beam of neutral particles is then accelerated to high energies and injected into the plasma. NBI is a key technology for the development of fusion power, and is currently used in a number of experimental fusion devices around the world.
