Motion Sickness

Motion sickness is a common condition experienced by astronauts during spaceflight. It is caused by the conflict between the visual and vestibular systems, which are responsible for balance and spatial orientation. In microgravity, the vestibular system becomes confused and sends conflicting signals to the brain, leading to symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, dizziness, and disorientation. Motion sickness can have a significant impact on an astronaut's ability to perform tasks and can even lead to mission failure. To prevent motion sickness, astronauts undergo extensive training and use medication, such as anti-nausea drugs, before and during spaceflight.
