Greenwich Mean Time (GMT)
Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) is the mean solar time at the Royal Observatory in Greenwich, London, which is used as a standard time reference for the world. It is the primary time standard by which all other time zones in the world are measured. GMT is based on the Earth's rotation and is therefore subject to irregularities and variations due to factors such as tidal friction and changes in the Earth's rotation. To account for these variations, GMT has been replaced by Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) as the primary time standard, which is based on atomic clocks and is more accurate and stable than GMT. However, GMT is still widely used as a time zone and is often used interchangeably with UTC.
