Gravity Gradient Stabilization
Gravity Gradient Stabilization is a method of stabilizing a spacecraft by utilizing the natural gravitational forces of the Earth. This technique involves aligning the spacecraft in a way that the long axis of the spacecraft is aligned with the local vertical. The gravitational forces acting on the spacecraft cause a torque that aligns the spacecraft in this manner. This method is commonly used for low Earth orbit missions and is particularly useful for long-duration missions where fuel consumption needs to be minimized.
