Flight Control Computer

In the context of aerospace engineering, a Flight Control Computer (FCC) is a critical component of an aircraft's avionics system. It is a specialized computer system that automates a wide range of in-flight tasks, thereby reducing the workload on the flight crew. The FCC is responsible for interpreting and processing the pilot's input, executing complex algorithms, and sending appropriate commands to the various flight control surfaces and systems. It plays a crucial role in maintaining the stability and control of the aircraft during all phases of flight. The FCC is also responsible for the operation of the autopilot system, auto-throttle, and flight management systems. It interfaces with various sensors and avionics systems to gather real-time data about the aircraft's performance and flight conditions. This data is then used to make necessary adjustments to the aircraft's flight path, speed, altitude, and attitude. The FCC is designed to be highly reliable and fault-tolerant, as any failure in this system could have catastrophic consequences.
