Electrochemistry

Electrochemistry is a branch of chemistry that deals with the study of chemical reactions that take place at the interface of an electrode (a conductor where electricity enters or leaves a system) and an electrolyte (a substance that contains ions and conducts electricity). In space and astronautical engineering, electrochemistry plays a crucial role in the design and operation of batteries, fuel cells, and other electrochemical devices that are used to generate and store electrical energy. Electrochemical processes are also used in the production of propellants and life support systems for spacecraft. Understanding the electrochemical behavior of materials in space environments is important for the development of reliable and efficient space technologies.
