Distillation
Distillation is a process of separating the components of a mixture based on their different boiling points. In space and astronautical engineering, distillation is used to purify water and other liquids, as well as to separate gases. Distillation is particularly important in space missions where resources are limited and recycling is necessary. The process involves heating the mixture until it reaches its boiling point, and then collecting the vapor that is produced. The vapor is then condensed back into a liquid, which is collected in a separate container. This process can be repeated multiple times to achieve a higher level of purity. Distillation is also used in the production of rocket fuels and other chemicals used in space exploration.
