Control Systems Engineering

Control Systems Engineering in the context of aerospace engineering refers to the application of control theory to design systems with desired behaviors. It is an interdisciplinary branch of engineering that combines principles of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, and aerospace engineering to design and manage complex systems over time. In aerospace engineering, control systems are used to manage the behavior of spacecraft, aircraft, and satellites. They are responsible for maintaining stability, following a certain trajectory, and ensuring the overall performance of the aerospace vehicle. Control systems can be either open loop, where the control action from the controller is independent of the 'process output', or closed loop, where the control action from the controller is dependent on the 'process output'. The design and implementation of these systems require a deep understanding of both the system to be controlled and the controller that will provide the desired performance.
