Continent
In space and astronautical engineering context, the term continent is not applicable. However, in the context of planetary exploration, a continent is a large landmass on a planet or moon that is distinct from other regions. For example, on Earth, the continents are North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, and Antarctica. On Mars, the largest volcano in the solar system, Olympus Mons, is located on a continent-sized region known as the Tharsis Plateau. The study of planetary continents is important for understanding the geology and evolution of a planet or moon.
