Condition-based Maintenance

Condition-based maintenance (CBM) is a maintenance strategy that uses real-time data to prioritize maintenance activities based on the actual condition of equipment. CBM aims to detect and diagnose potential failures before they occur, allowing for maintenance to be performed only when necessary. This approach can reduce maintenance costs and downtime, as well as increase equipment reliability and availability. CBM relies on various technologies such as sensors, data analytics, and machine learning algorithms to monitor equipment health and predict potential failures. By analyzing data from these sources, CBM can identify patterns and trends that indicate when maintenance is required. This approach is particularly useful in the space and astronautical engineering context, where equipment is often located in remote or inaccessible locations, making traditional maintenance approaches difficult or impossible.
