Adaptive Equalization

Adaptive Equalization is a signal processing technique used to mitigate the effects of channel distortion in communication systems. It is particularly useful in space and astronautical engineering where communication signals are transmitted over long distances and are subject to various types of distortion such as multipath fading, phase distortion, and amplitude distortion. Adaptive equalization uses a feedback loop to adjust the equalizer coefficients in real-time based on the received signal, thereby improving the signal quality and reducing errors. The equalizer can be implemented using various algorithms such as the least mean squares (LMS) algorithm, recursive least squares (RLS) algorithm, or constant modulus algorithm (CMA). Adaptive equalization is widely used in satellite communication systems, deep space communication systems, and other space-based communication systems.
