Absolute Zero

Absolute Zero is the theoretical temperature at which all matter would have zero entropy. In space and astronautical engineering, Absolute Zero is important because it is the temperature at which all thermal motion ceases, and it is used as a reference point for temperature scales. Achieving temperatures close to Absolute Zero is necessary for many space applications, such as cooling infrared detectors and superconducting magnets. The process of achieving such low temperatures is often accomplished through the use of cryogenic fluids and refrigeration systems. Absolute Zero is also important in the study of the behavior of matter in extreme environments, such as in the vacuum of space or on the surface of other planets.
