Stop Tone

Stop tone is a signal used in space and astronautical engineering to indicate the end of a transmission or communication. It is a short burst of sound or tone that is sent after the completion of a message or data transmission to indicate that the receiver can stop listening or responding. Stop tones are used in various space missions and programs, including satellite communications, deep space missions, and human spaceflight missions. They are particularly important in situations where there may be a delay in communication due to the distance between the sender and receiver, as they ensure that both parties are aware that the message has been received in its entirety. Stop tones are also used in ground-based communication systems to indicate the end of a transmission.
