International System Of Units (SI)

The International System of Units (SI) is the modern form of the metric system and is the world's most widely used measurement system. It is used in space and astronautical engineering to ensure consistency and accuracy in measurements. The SI is based on seven base units: the meter (length), kilogram (mass), second (time), ampere (electric current), kelvin (temperature), mole (amount of substance), and candela (luminous intensity). These base units can be combined to form derived units, such as the newton (force), joule (energy), and watt (power). The SI also includes prefixes to indicate multiples or fractions of the base units, such as kilo- (10^3) and milli- (10^-3). The use of the SI in space and astronautical engineering is essential for accurate and consistent measurements of distances, masses, times, temperatures, and other physical quantities.
