EPA (Environmental Protection Agency)

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is an independent agency of the United States federal government that is responsible for protecting human health and the environment by writing and enforcing regulations based on laws passed by Congress. The EPA's mission is to protect human health and the environment. It works to ensure that Americans have clean air, land, and water; that national efforts to reduce environmental risks are based on the best available scientific information; and that federal laws protecting human health and the environment are enforced fairly and effectively. In the context of space and astronautical engineering, the EPA plays a role in regulating the environmental impact of space activities, such as rocket launches and satellite operations, to ensure that they do not harm the Earth's atmosphere or ecosystems.
