Electron Microscopes

Electron microscopes are scientific instruments that use a beam of highly energetic electrons to examine objects on a very fine scale. They are capable of achieving much higher magnification and resolution than traditional optical microscopes, allowing scientists to study the structure and properties of materials at the atomic and molecular level. Electron microscopes come in several different types, including transmission electron microscopes (TEMs), scanning electron microscopes (SEMs), and scanning transmission electron microscopes (STEMs). TEMs use a beam of electrons that passes through a thin sample to create an image, while SEMs use a beam of electrons that scans the surface of a sample to create an image. STEMs combine the capabilities of both TEMs and SEMs to provide even higher resolution images. Electron microscopes are widely used in fields such as materials science, biology, and nanotechnology.
