Department Of Defense


Department of Defense (DoD) is an executive branch department of the federal government charged with coordinating and supervising all agencies and functions of the government directly related to national security and the United States Armed Forces. The DoD is responsible for providing the military forces needed to deter war and protect the security of the country. It is also responsible for the development of new technologies and strategies to maintain the country's military superiority. The DoD is headed by the Secretary of Defense, who is a member of the President's Cabinet.
