Activated Alumina
Activated alumina is a porous, highly adsorptive form of aluminum oxide that is commonly used as a desiccant, catalyst support, and in gas purification systems. It is produced by heating aluminum hydroxide until it dehydrates and forms a porous material with a high surface area. Activated alumina has a strong affinity for water and can adsorb moisture from the air, making it useful for drying gases and liquids. It is also used as a catalyst support in the production of chemicals such as hydrogen peroxide and in the removal of impurities from natural gas and other industrial gases.
