Apollo Program

The Apollo Program was a series of space missions undertaken by the United States of America with the goal of landing a man on the Moon and returning him safely to Earth. The program ran from 1961 to 1975 and included a total of 17 missions, of which six successfully landed astronauts on the Moon. The program was a major achievement in the history of space exploration and represented a significant milestone in human spaceflight. The Apollo spacecraft consisted of a Command Module (CM) and a Lunar Module (LM), which were launched into space by a Saturn V rocket. The CM housed the crew during the journey to the Moon and back, while the LM was used to land on and take off from the lunar surface. The program involved a large number of engineers, scientists, and technicians, and required the development of new technologies and systems to support human spaceflight.
